Why Reach Matters When Selling Equipment

One of the biggest misconceptions in the equipment business is that value is determined solely by the machine itself.
Condition matters. Hours matter. Maintenance matters.
But another factor often gets overlooked: exposure.
Our June 3 online auction was a great reminder of that.
Several pieces exceeded expectations, including a 2015 MacDon FD75 Draper Head that sold 47% above estimate, a 2006 Volvo EC460B LC Excavator that sold 51% above estimate, and a 2013 New Holland 98D Header that sold 88% above estimate.
What did these pieces have in common?
They found the right buyers.
When equipment is marketed locally, you’re limited to whoever happens to see it. The reality is that the best buyer for your equipment may not be down the road. They may be several states away.
That’s why reach matters.
At Mid Iowa Auction Company and Heartland Iron Solutions, our goal is to put equipment in front of as many qualified buyers as possible through industry marketplaces, online advertising, social media, and our nationwide network of buyers.
During this auction, equipment listings generated more than 226,000 impressions and over 500 watchlist additions. That’s thousands of opportunities for buyers to discover equipment they may have never seen otherwise.
The lesson from this sale was simple: when more qualified buyers see equipment, better outcomes become possible.

Our mission is to connect your equipment with the right buyers and help you discover what the market is truly willing to pay.

My name is Matt, founder and owner of Mid Iowa Auction Company & Heartland Iron Solutions. While Auction is in our name, we do much more than that! Our company has been in business since 2017 and our sales team has a combined sales experience of over 50 years. We are a consulting and marketing business, and our goal is to get the best price for your equipment. We provide a wholesale and retail evaluation that is backed by millions of dollars of sales data so you can feel confident of the value of your equipment. We think it is unfair that the dealers only want to give 60 to 70% of your trade-in values. We strive to get you 100% of your equipment’s value. You are in control of the sale, and if your machine doesn’t sell, we usually don’t charge a fee. Once your equipment sells, our fee is based on a percentage of the price. As a dealer we can provide warranty, financing, shipping and appraisals. It doesn’t matter how many pieces you have to sell we are here for you. We look forward to helping you keep more money in your pocket and having a first- class experience. Thanks, and have a blessed day.
